Website design & build
A website is a sales tool or it's an expensive brochure.
Most service-business sites are judged on whether the owner likes how they look. The only question that matters is whether someone who lands from a $12 ad click picks up the phone.

What a rebuild is measured on
Improving- Largest Contentful Paint
- under 2.5son mobile data
- Calls from the site

What makes a service-business website actually work?
Four things: it loads in under two and a half seconds on a phone, it has a separate page for each service someone might search, it makes the next step obvious without scrolling, and it tracks what happens so you can tell which page produced the call. Design taste is real but it comes fifth.
The site you are reading is the argument. It is a static build with no JavaScript framework, self-hosted fonts, no third-party scripts loading on page load, and structured data connected as one graph. That is not showing off — it is the standard we would hold a client build to, applied to our own site first, where anyone can check it.
Client sites are usually WordPress, and we say that plainly rather than hiding it. WordPress is editable by the people who own it, it does not lock you into a platform you have to keep paying us for, and every capable developer in Ontario can maintain it. Those are the right trade-offs for most businesses, even though a static build scores better.

What's included
What a build actually contains
A page per service you sell
Not one "Services" page with six paragraphs. Someone searching "furnace replacement Hamilton" lands on a page about furnace replacement, which is also the only way that page can rank.
Conversion built in, not bolted on
Phone number visible on every screen size, forms that ask for four fields rather than eleven, and a clear next step above the fold on mobile — where most of your traffic is.
Speed as a requirement
Core Web Vitals treated as a build gate rather than a post-launch cleanup: LCP under 2.5 seconds, images sized properly, no render-blocking third-party scripts loaded on page load.
Tracking wired before launch
Analytics, conversion events, call tracking and form tracking configured and tested on the staging site. Launching without this means the first month of data is worthless.
Structured data and schema
Organization, service and breadcrumb markup connected as one graph, with your business details rendered from a single source so the site and the schema can never disagree.
Real content, written for the trade
Copy written from what you actually do, in language your customers use. Stock photography and filler about "passion for excellence" is what makes a good company look like everyone else.
A CMS you can actually use
WordPress, configured so the pages you need to change are editable and the pages you should not break are not. Training included, in a recording you can hand to whoever inherits it.
Migration without losing rankings
Every existing URL mapped, redirects tested before cutover, and search visibility monitored for thirty days after. A rebuild that loses rankings is a net loss, however good it looks.
How it works
Eight to ten weeks, and a rollback that stays available
Structure before design
Weeks 1–2Which pages exist, what each one is for, what the visitor is meant to do next, and what search demand justifies it. Most bad websites are structure problems wearing a design problem.
Design the templates, not every page
Weeks 2–4A home, service, location and article template plus a component set. Designing forty individual pages is how a build runs six months and still looks inconsistent.
Build, wire and test
Weeks 4–7Development, content, tracking, forms, schema and speed. Tested on real devices on a mobile connection, not just on a designer's laptop.
Launch and watch
Week 8, then 30 daysRedirects verified, sitemap submitted, rankings and conversions monitored daily for the first fortnight. The old site stays available as a rollback until the new one has proved itself.
Before you rebuild
Five things worth checking first
Plenty of sites do not need replacing. If all five of these are already true, a rebuild is probably not where your next $15,000 should go — and we would rather say so now.
- It loads in under 2.5 seconds on a mobile connection, not on office Wi-Fi.
- Every service you sell has its own page with its own URL.
- The phone number is tappable and visible without scrolling on a phone.
- You can tell which page produced last month's enquiries.
- You can edit a page yourself without emailing a developer.
Fit
When a rebuild is the right call
Rebuild if
- The site cannot be edited without a developer, so it never gets updated.
- It was built before mobile mattered and it shows on a phone.
- There is one page covering six services, so none of them can rank.
- It is slow in a way that page-speed plugins have not fixed, usually meaning the theme is the problem.
- You are about to spend seriously on advertising and the pages would waste it.
Fix instead if
- The structure is sound and the real problem is that no page says what you do clearly.
- It converts fine and you have simply got bored of how it looks.
- The problem is that nobody answers the enquiries it already produces.
- You have no budget for content — a new site with the old copy is a repaint.
- A rebuild is being proposed to you as the fix for a ranking problem nobody has diagnosed.

Questions about websites
Do you build on WordPress?
Yes — WordPress is our default for client sites, because it is genuinely editable by the people who own it and it does not tie you to us. Where a site needs to be extremely fast and rarely changes, we build it static instead. This site is a static build; most client sites are not.
How much does a website cost?
A build is quoted as a project rather than out of the monthly range, and the figure depends on how many pages need writing, whether the content exists, and how much needs migrating. A focused service-business site is a smaller number than most people expect; a large migration is not.
How long does a website take?
Six to ten weeks for a typical service business site with our content support, from kickoff to launch. The single biggest delay is always waiting on client content and photographs, which is why we write from interviews rather than sending you a blank document.
Will a rebuild hurt my Google rankings?
It can, and that is a real risk worth taking seriously. It is avoided by mapping every existing URL, redirecting it, and monitoring afterwards. Sites lose rankings in a rebuild when someone changes the URL structure without a redirect map — which is common and entirely preventable.
Can you just fix my existing site instead?
Often yes, and often that is the better answer. If the structure is sound and the problem is speed, conversion or content, fixing it costs a fraction of a rebuild. We would rather tell you that than sell a rebuild you did not need.
Who owns the site when it is done?
You do. Your hosting account, your domain, your WordPress install, your Google accounts. Nothing is locked to us and there is no proprietary platform to leave. If you want to move it to another firm, you can, and we will help hand it over.
Do you write the content?
Yes, from interviews with you and whoever sells the work. That produces far better copy than a content questionnaire, and it means the project does not stall for two months waiting on text you did not have time to write.
What about hosting and maintenance?
We host and maintain sites we build, or hand it to whoever you prefer. Maintenance means updates, backups, uptime monitoring and security patching — not a vague retainer. It is a small monthly cost and going without it is how WordPress sites get compromised.
Have your current site reviewed before you replace it.
The free audit covers page speed, conversion path, structure and tracking, and tells you honestly whether you need a rebuild or three specific fixes. Plenty of businesses get the second answer.
